Are the bins locked? How are they secured on-site?
Quick answer: No — bins and pails aren't locked by default. Once delivered, on-site security is the property owner's responsibility. You're free to add your own locking mechanism if your site needs it.
Bins vs pails — who owns what
400 LB Bins are rental units — they remain Monster property, but once placed, on-site responsibility (placement, monitoring, securing against theft) is yours. We pick them up within 15 days of season end.
50 LB Pails become your property upon delivery. You can lock them, move them, or store them however you like.
What we do at delivery
Deliver and place in a location you've specified (72 hours' written notice required).
Fill with our ice-control product at season start.
Refill on request ($149 per bin refill, charged separately).
Pick up rental bins at the end of the season.
What you handle
Keeping the bin or pail in position throughout the season.
Monitoring product levels and requesting refills as needed — we do not audit consumption.
Any locking or security mechanism if theft or misuse is a concern at your site.
Recommendations for high-traffic or public sites
Place in a staff-only area — loading dock, service entrance, mechanical room.
Add your own padlock or chain. Standard hasps work on most designs; pails can be bungee-locked or stored inside.
If theft is a recurring issue, talk to us about enclosed storage or alternative placement.
