What if the city declares a major snow event?

Edited

Quick answer: We run normal operations at elevated readiness. Crews are pre-mobilized before the storm hits, routes are adjusted in real time based on accumulation and road conditions, and city alerts feed directly into dispatch planning. A declared major event doesn't stop service — it's what we're staffed for.

How we prepare

  • Pre-storm mobilization: backup crews are called up and trucks are staged in zones before snow starts falling.

  • Route flexibility: dispatch adjusts routing as accumulation patterns develop so high-impact zones get hit first.

  • City alerts integrated: major event declarations, parking ban notifications, and road closures feed into our planning.

  • Extended shifts: crews run staggered rotations so coverage continues 24+ hours if needed.

What to expect

Service continues through declared major events. You may see multiple visits during a single event as snow keeps accumulating. If a parking ban affects access to your site, we flag it in advance so arrangements can be made. Questions during an active event? Call 647-967-7569.
