What kind of training does your team receive?

Edited

Quick answer: Every team member completes pre-season training before winter starts, covering equipment, safe driving, damage prevention, customer etiquette, site-specific instructions, and emergency procedures. Crew leaders get additional leadership training, and ongoing coaching runs through the season.

Pre-season training

  • Equipment operation and attachment handling (plows, salters, blowers, skid-steers)

  • Safe winter driving and low-visibility operations

  • Damage prevention — surfaces, landscaping, fences, lighting

  • Customer etiquette on-property (residential and commercial)

  • Site-specific instructions from scope diagrams and account notes

  • Emergency procedures and reporting

Crew leaders

Crew leaders receive additional training on team management, dispatch coordination, and quality oversight. They're the link between dispatch and the field, so their training goes beyond operator skills.

Ongoing coaching

Training doesn't stop in October. Supervisors review live dispatch data and client feedback, and coaching is applied in real time through the season — particularly when quality audits or client reports surface something to improve. That's part of how we've earned 3 consecutive SIMA Best Places to Work awards.
